AVIATION INDUSTRY EXPERTS DISCUSSED GRF IMPLEMENTATION STANDARDS

Representatives of the SUE “Tajikairnavigation” took part in the regional workshop “Global Runway Surface Condition Data Presentation Format - ICAO GRF, which was held with the support of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan in JSC Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan in Almaty on November 28-29, 2023. 

The speakers of the event were Christopher Keohane, Director General of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, ICAO Regional Meteorology Specialist, Dmitry Kosolapov, IATA ATM Infrastructure Assistant Director, Mikko Kallio, Director General of Moventor Oy, and others, as well as experts from ICAO, IATA, FAA, and Moventor Oy, a manufacturer of runway condition assessment equipment and software. 

The main purpose of the ICAO GRF application is to reduce the risks of aircraft rolling out of the runway. Considering that the process of implementing GRF and its further application has left many questions, including for the CIS countries, the purpose of this seminar was to share with the countries of the region the experience of solving problems that have arisen during the implementation and application of GRF.
