On July 21, a grand welcoming ceremony for the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, was held in the central square of the Mongolian city of Ulaanbaatar, which was festively decorated for the state visit of the high-ranking guest.

The President of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, was warmly welcomed by the President of Mongolia, His Excellency Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, who invited him to the rostrum.

The welcoming ceremony began with a report by the commander of the guard of honor to the high-ranking guest, the playing of the national anthems of the two countries, passing by the guard of honor, paying tribute to the State Flag of Mongolia, passage of the guard of honor past the heads of the two states, and ended after acquaintance with the official delegations of both sides.

In honor of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, 21 gunshots were fired from the artillery.

   

On July 21, the discussion of cooperation issues began in a special conversation between the Presidents of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and Mongolia, Honorable Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, and continued in a meeting with the participation of delegations.

First, the President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, expressed gratitude for the high level of reception and expressed confidence that “the results of today’s talks will give a new impetus to the further expansion of our mutually beneficial cooperation.”

The parties recalled the steady development of political relations between the two countries and attached special importance to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations as an effective means of strengthening political trust.

During the talks, great attention was paid to priority areas of cooperation in the fields of energy, construction and development of infrastructure, agriculture, including livestock breeding, and the export of high-quality and environmentally friendly fruits and vegetables to Mongolia.

It was proposed to establish Joint Working Groups in the energy and construction sectors and infrastructure development to promote the enhancement of mutually beneficial cooperation.

The processing industry, especially light and food industry, mining and processing of minerals were considered among the promising sectors of relations between the two countries.

The regular activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation were considered important for coordinating the complex of bilateral relations and attracting investment.

It was pointed out that humanitarian cooperation is another important aspect of Tajik-Mongolian relations. In this regard, the importance of holding the Days of Culture of the countries on each other's territories was noted with satisfaction.

The further expansion of direct ties between higher education institutions, scientific and research and academic institutes, analytical centers and other sectoral institutions of the two countries was named as another area of cooperation.

It was noted that there are also broad opportunities for cooperation in the fields of tourism, youth and sports.

Gratitude was expressed to friendly Mongolia for supporting Tajikistan's initiative to declare 2027-2036 as the "Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations" and other global proposals of our country, especially in the areas of water and climate.

In this context, the importance of further strengthening cooperation between the two sides within the framework of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries was particularly emphasized.

A fruitful exchange of views also took place on other issues of mutual interest.

First of all, I would like to once again express my gratitude to the esteemed President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the Government, and the people of Mongolia for their warm welcome and hospitality.

We attach particular importance to the consistent development and strengthening of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with friendly Mongolia in all areas of mutual interest.

We view today's meetings and talks as a logical continuation of the intergovernmental dialogue between our two countries.

We consider regular contacts at the highest and high levels an important factor in creating favorable conditions for further expanding the agenda of our bilateral relations.

In this context, we welcome the addition of a new package of documents on cooperation in areas of mutual interest to the legal framework for relations between our countries. Following the talks, a number of new documents were signed that strengthen the legal and contractual foundation of our cooperation.

The talks also focused on exploring new avenues and mechanisms for expanding trade and economic cooperation.

Promising areas identified included manufacturing, particularly light and food industries, energy, construction, agriculture, including livestock farming, and a number of other real economic sectors.

In this regard, we discussed the possibility of jointly implementing investment projects in these and other economic sectors.

At the same time, the need to increase bilateral trade and expand the structure of trade was emphasized.

We consider the holding of the Second Business Forum of the two countries on the sidelines of the current state visit to be an important step in this direction.

We believe that the results of this Forum and the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation will contribute to the intensification of bilateral trade.

The Tajik side expressed its readiness to implement specific measures in all these areas.

We viewed the further development of cultural and humanitarian ties as an important factor in strengthening the foundations of friendship between the peoples of Tajikistan and Mongolia.

In this regard, we expressed our interest in expanding interstate relations in science and education, culture, youth policy, tourism, sports, and other social sectors.

We welcomed the holding of Tajik Culture Days in Mongolia.

We support the regular holding of such cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

During the talks, we exchanged views on pressing issues on the international and regional agendas.

We expressed our interest in continuing the constructive partnership between the two countries to find viable solutions to existing regional and international problems.

Ensuring peace and stability, security, and sustainable development were among the key topics.

Tajikistan, as a peace-loving country, always advocates for lasting peace and stability, harmony, and mutual understanding among countries.

Recently, at Tajikistan's initiative, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 2027–2036 the "Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations."

In this regard, I express my gratitude to friendly Mongolia, which, along with our other international partners, supported this new initiative by Tajikistan.

Water and climate issues, particularly climate change and adaptation to its impacts, were also at the forefront of our attention.

Tajikistan welcomes the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP-17), which will be held in August of this year in Ulaanbaatar.

We view this event as an important step towards strengthening global cooperation in environmental protection.

We highly appreciate Mongolia's ongoing efforts in this area.

We express our readiness to continue cooperation with this friendly country in the international arena, including through the implementation of Tajikistan's global initiatives in the water and climate sector.

We are pleased with today's talks, which took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, trust, and respect.

We are confident that the results of these talks will contribute to the further strengthening and expansion of friendly ties and mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries.

In conclusion, I wish friendly Mongolia continued progress and prosperity, and its people - peace, stability, and growing well-being.

   

On July 21, in Ulaanbaatar, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with Mongolian Prime Minister, Honorable Nyam-Osorin Uchral.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the further development and strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.

"We constantly pay special attention to strengthening and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with friendly Mongolia," - noted Emomali Rahmon at the beginning of the meeting.

The parties placed great emphasis on expanding mutually beneficial ties in various trade and economic areas.

The importance of the regular activities of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation for the further advancement of the entire range of bilateral relations was stressed.

Particular attention was paid to establishing cooperation in the areas of hydropower, agriculture (particularly livestock farming), mining, and geology.

The parties also discussed the implementation of joint projects for the production, storage, and processing of agricultural products, the export of various types of organic agricultural products to Mongolia, and the establishment of joint ventures for processing livestock products.

The development of direct contacts between business circles and the holding of the Tajikistan-Mongolia Business Forum in Ulaanbaatar were considered essential for expanding trade and economic ties. In this regard, the creation of a Joint Council of Entrepreneurs of Tajikistan and Mongolia was proposed.

The parties also emphasized their interest in further expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including establishing direct links between higher education institutions, research centers, and tourism organizations.
