Chairman of the National Assembly, Mayor of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali, attended a ceremony unveiling 30 new electric buses for the capital, city authorities said.
The buses were produced by Akia Avesto Automotive Industry, a joint venture in Tajikistan, in line with European standards.
Each 12-meter bus has 32 seats and can carry up to 100 passengers. The vehicles are equipped with heating and cooling systems, six CCTV cameras and two information screens.
City officials said 60 electric buses from the same company are already operating on Dushanbe routes as part of an ongoing modernization effort led by Emomali.
The buses have batteries with a capacity of 350 kWh and a range of up to 300 kilometers. The warranty for the batteries and other electrical components is 600,000 kilometers, or eight years.
During the event, Rustam Emomali met with officials and issued instructions on maintaining proper technical and sanitary standards in public transport.
Authorities said the expansion of electric transport is part of broader development policies promoted by President Emomali Rahmon, aimed at improving infrastructure and supporting the capital’s socioeconomic growth.
