DISCUSSION ISSUES REDUCTION OF FLIGHTS DISTANCE AND TIME AT THE RDGE-SCM/2025

70
As part of the special meeting of the RDGE-SCM/2025 Regional Coordination Group, which is being held in cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Dushanbe, representatives of the international organization ICAO, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), air navigation service providers and leading international airlines analyzed and discussed important issues of flight distance and time reduction.
During the discussion, IATA representative Mr. John Moore, based on specific examples of the activities of 2-3 airlines, showed how, by opening direct routes and straightening existing routes, companies costs have been significantly reduced, flight efficiency and fuel savings have been achieved. It was emphasized that the launch of such routes is beneficial not only for airlines but also for the entire air navigation network in the region. During the meeting, experts discussed the development and implementation of new air routes in the airspace of Central Asian countries, in particular direct air traffic routes that allow flights to be shorter, safer and more cost-effective.
Taking into account the mutual interests of the participating parties and the proposals of industry experts, it was decided to include proposals for a new routes catalogue of the RDGE-SCM air traffic management organization plan for 2025–2026.
RDGE-SCM/2025 is expected to contribute to further strengthening cooperation and coordination between the countries of the region and international organizations in the direction of sustainable development of air navigation infrastructure.
