Specialists from the SUE “Tajikairnavigation”, jointly with specialists from the SUE Center “Uzaeronavigation” have discussed the introduction of a single absolute altitude and transition level in the airspace of the two countries, as well as the Central Asian region. During a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan from August 20 to 22, 2025, air traffic services providers of both countries discussed the transition to a single absolute altitude and transition level, which play a key role in ensuring flight safety, and shared their experiences.

It should be noted that the goal of introducing unified absolute altitude and transition altitude in the Central Asian region is to eliminate errors in altitude determination by crews, reduce the burden on crews when changing altimeter settings during the critical phase of flight — approach and landing, and to make changes to the structure and classification of airspace to improve its rational use.

To achieve this goal, ICAO recommends analysing current transition altitude values to determine the optimal single transition altitude for all airspace users, airspace design, and modern flight procedures, as well as coordinating with neighbouring states to take advantage of opportunities for broader harmonisation.
